Germeline competent embryonic stem cells are critical for making sophisticated genetically engineered animals. Till date these valuable cells have only been derived in rodents (mice and rats). ATGC is collaborating with leading scientists to apply the most up-to-date knowledge to derive germline competent embryonic stem cells from the rabbit blastocyst. Success of the project will further expand ATGC’s capability in creating sophisticated transgenic rabbits.

ATGC has licensed various animal models from the University of Michgian (UM) that can be used in the development of pharmaceuticals. These include the immunodeficient rabbits and Cystic Fibrosis rabbits. ATGC has also obtained licenses from UM for novel methods to improve knock-in efficiencies in rabbits.
